Coyote women basketball team climbs to eighth in poll The University of South Dakota women's basketball team has moved up two spots in the North Central Regional rankings released Jan. 23.
The Coyotes, 12-5, 6-3 in the NCC, improved from 10th to 8th in the most recent NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Regional Rankings. Mesa State is ranked No. 1 in the most recent rankings. The Jan. 9 regional ranking placed the Coyotes 10th in the North Central Region rankings.
It was the first time since the late 1980s that USD climbed into the women's basketball regional rankings. South Dakota has won nine of 10 games, including four in a row. They face SDSU, ranked fourth in the region, on Friday in Brookings at 6 p.m.
Additional North Central Region Rankings include North Dakota (14-3) at No. 2 and
Nebraska-Kearney (13-3) in the No. 3 spot in the NCAA.
