Kroth will perform with orchestra here Michael Kroth, principal bassoonist with the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra and the Dakota Wind Quintet, will be the feature soloist with the South Dakota Symphony Chamber Orchestra, Saturday, February 9, 8 p.m. in the Vermillion High School Performing Arts Center. Kroth will perform the Vivaldi Bassoon Concerto in A minor. The concert may also feature works by Grieg, Ravinovich, Hindemith, Haydn and Gillespie.

Kroth has earned a reputation as an excellent chamber and orchestral bassoonist who has played throughout the United States and Germany. Kroth has been praised for his beautiful tone and expressive playing.

He is the former principal bassoonist of the Colorado Springs Symphony Orchestra and the Air Force Band of the Rockies. Kroth received his master of music degree at Temple University and is an adjunct professor at Augustana College. He lives in Sioux Falls with his wife, Patti, and their two children, Daniel and Heidi.

Corporate sponsors for the concert include Community First National Bank CorTrust State Bank, First Dakota National Bank, First National Bank, and Wells Fargo Bank. Tickets are on sale at Nook 'n Cranny, Davis Pharmacy, Jones' Food Center, Hy-Vee, Mollet Music (Yankton) and the VHS Music Department for $6 general admission.
