Lennox clips Tanagers' wings 61-49 by Jim Prosser The Vermillion Tanagers lost to the Lennox Orioles 61-49 in junior varsity boys� basketball Jan. 14 at home.
Tyler Brown canned 15 points, including three of his seven attempts from 3-point range. He also made three steals and two assists. Adam Brunick scored 10 points, grabbed three rebounds and made two assists.
The Tanagers trailed 20-11 at the end of the first period, the game was knotted 30-30 after the second period, and the Tanagers trailed 48-44 going into the final period.
�It was good to see a team effort and we played good defense,� said Vermillion JV Coach Rex Huska. �I like the way the team went to the basket and shot the ball.�
The Vermillion JV saw its record fall to 4-3, while Lennox upped its mark to 5-2.
The Vermillion JV made 5 of 12 three-point attempts and connected on 8 of 12 free throw tries. The Tanagers connected on 18 of 43 field goals, while Lennox was 21 of 46 from the field. Lennox sank 4 of 7 three-point attempts and sank 15 of 23 free throw attempts.
The Vermillion JV was outrebounded 32-18.
