O'Connor to wrestle for Augustana College Vermillion High School senior Ray O'Connor has signed a national letter of intent to wrestle heavyweight for Augustana College in Sioux Falls for the upcoming 2002-2003 season.
The Augustana Viking wrestling program is an NCC affiliated NCAA Division II program that has consistently been a top 20 team nationally and is currently ranked ninth. Head coach Kraig Presler is a 1983 graduate of Augustana College who wrestled for the Vikings in 1982 and 1983 and earned All-American honors and a fifth place finish at the national tournament in 1983.
Augustana College is a selective, residential liberal arts college affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Central to its mission are five shared fundamental values: Christian, liberal arts, excellence, community and service.
O'Connor is currently the number one ranked heavyweight in the state and has complied a career record of 136-47 and a 28-0 record this season. He is the son of Larry and Rennae O'Connor.
