St. Agnes school receives donation St. Agnes Elementary School in Vermillion received a large boost in their drive for new playground and physical education equipment. The South Dakota Alpha chapter of Phi Delta Theta president Jesse Moyer, Rochester, MN, presented students with a large number of soup labels to help them in their drive for new equipment. The larger the label size, the more points the school gets.
"With 43 young men living in the house, we go through a lot of the large cans of soup in the winter months. If we can help kids out, we would rather do that then recycling the soup cans and labels," Moyer said.
Students receiving labels include Courtney McFarland, Stephanie Tabor, Cole Andre, Ashley Quellette, Benedict Gombocz and Alex Card.
"A big aspect of our fraternity is community service," Moyer said.
The men of Phi Delta Theta also hold an annual chislic feed in the fall and donate the proceeds to a local charity; assist the ESA with the Giving Tree during the holidays; clean the yard at the Austin Whittemore House in the spring; and also in the spring hold an annual charity golf tournament.
