Erwin B. Erickson, 84, Minnetonka, MN, died Feb. 6, 2002.
Funeral services were held Feb. 11 at Calvary Lutheran Church, Golden Valley, MN, visitation was Feb. 10 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Gearty-Delmore Funeral Chapel, Plymouth, MN, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Interment was in Dalesburg Lutheran Cemetery, Hub City.
Mr. Erickson is survived by his wife, Bessie; three sons, John (Mary Kay), David (Elisabeth), and Mark (Lorraine); a daughter, Elizabeth; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a brother, Glenn.
James R. Johnson, 64, Sheldon, MO, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at Nevada Regional Medical Center, Nevada, MO, following a lengthy illness. He was born March 30, 1937, in Vermillion, to Edwin Earhart Johnson and Ova Mary Case Johnson. He married Donna Mae Chamberlain in 1955 in Vermillion, and later married Barbara Jean Watters on March 17, 1989, in Miami, OK, and she survives him at their home.
Mr. Johnson was raised in Vermillion, and graduated from Meckling High School in Meckling, in 1955. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge. He worked for many years as a self-employed trash hauler. He later was a truck driver as well as a barbecue wood hauler. He was a member of the Lutheran Church. He moved to Vernon County in 1989 and spent the remainder of his life there.
Survivors in addition to his wife, Barbara, include two sons, Marty Johnson, Meckling, and Dan Watters, Pontiac, MI; five daughters, Cindy Johnson, Nevada, MO, Cheri Belleweg, Vermillion, Theresa Jarrell, Nevada, MO, Judy Reppehagen, Fowlerville, MI, and Amy Watters, Nevada, MO; 12 grandchildren, one great-grandson, one brother, Garry Johnson, Canton, and his mother, Ova Mary Johnson, Vermillion. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Cory Dean Burrell.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, at Beeny-Ferry Funeral Home, Sheldon, MO, with Father Eugene Carr officiating. Interment followed in Sheldon Cemetery, Sheldon, MO. Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association in care of Beeny-Ferry Funeral Home, 301 S. Washington, Nevada, MO 65772.
A. Millard Olson, 85, Vermillion, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002 at Beresford.
Funeral services were held Feb. 14 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Vermillion, with the Rev. Judith Johnson officiating. Burial was in St. Peter Cemetery, Vermillion.
Iverson-Siecke Funeral Home, Vermillion, was in charge of arrangements.
He was born Sept. 9, 1916, at Clay County to John and Christine (Hanson) Olson. He attended Prairie Center Rural School. He farmed and was a rural mail carrier for 23 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a sergeant from 1942-45. He married Hazel Swee on July 18, 1942, at Rantoul, IL. They moved into Vermillion in 1968 from rural Burbank. His wife died Feb. 4, 1998.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Vermillion. He enjoyed woodworking.
He is survived by two sons, Darwin (Linda) Olson, Franklin, TN, and Erlan (JoAnn) Olson, Burbank; two daughters, Karen Olson, Meckling, and Miriam Olson, Elbern, IL; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Clara Olson, Vermillion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three sisters and one brother.
Clara Mae Stosberg, 84, died Jan. 14, 2002 at her home in Kingman, AZ after a lengthy illness.
She was born Nov. 25, 1917 in Vermillion to Katherine (Ark) Westbrook and Arthur V. Westbrook.
She was first united in marriage to Robert E. Stuart on Feb. 23, 1935. From this union a daughter, Lois Elaine Stuart, was born.
She was united a second time on Aug. 15, 1962 to Rudy Stosberg.
Mrs. Stosberg made Vermillion her home until 1986 when she and Rudy moved to Kingman, AZ.
She is survived by her husband; her daughter Mrs. Kenneth (Lois) Mincks of Warsaw, MO; four granddaughters, Leah Ann Chafa, Ralston, NE, Teresa Darnell, Warsaw, MO, Lori Chancellor, Ralston, NE, and Kimberly Krueger, Syracuse, NE; 10 great-grandchildren, Christopher and Katherine Chafa, Jeremy Mincks, Shawn and Nicholas Murphy, Alicia, Sara and Miranda Chancellor, Ryan and Aubrieanna Krueger; and two great-great-grandchildren Johnathan and Jacob; and three sisters, Ruby Cashion, Rose Michellitti and Debby Mincheff all of California.
She was preceded in death by her father, mother and one sister, Florence.
