VMS students chosen for choir

VMS students chosen for choir Three Vermillion Middle School students recently auditioned and were selected to participate in the 2002 North Central American Choral Directors' Honor Choir.

C.J. Harden and Ben Rogge, eighth grade, and Hannah Pommersheim, seventh grade, are among the 20 singers from across South Dakota who were selected to represent their home state in this six-state regional Junior High Honor Choir.

Jan Ireland, vocal director at Vermillion Middle School, said that students are chosen for the choir based on taped auditions of required pieces, as well as other vocal criteria. Hundreds of singers from across the state worked with their choral directors to submit tapes to a panel of judges.

The NCACDA Honor Choir will meet and perform in Des Moines, IA March 13-16.
