Candidate forum is April 6 The Rotary Club of Vermillion will be sponsoring a forum for city and school board election candidates on April 6 from 10 a.m. to noon. The forum will be held at the Vermillion Public Library.
Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help build goodwill and peace in the world. As part of their community service goals, the Rotary will sponsor this community event open to the public.
The city and school board election will be held April 9 and features three city races and one school board race. The mayoral race has Roger Kozak, the present Vermillion mayor, against local businessman Roger Jeck. Two city wards will have races. The central ward has Dan Christopherson, a local businessman, against Mary Edelen, former South Dakota state representative. The southeast ward has a race with restaurateur Jere Chapman against retired police officer Ray Hofman.
Vermillion School Board candidates are Michael Granaas and Jonathan Robertson.
