Carlson claims VHS record in triple jump at Dan Lennon Relays by Jim Prosser Last Monday, March 25, a contingent of more than 30 schools and 1,200 athletes from the four state region participated in the annual Dan Lennon relays at the DakotaDome in Vermillion.
Vermillion High School was well represented in both the girls� and boys� divisions as Annie Carlson set a new VHS record in the triple jump claiming second place with a jump covering 34� 8.5.�
Quincy Christie placed third in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.49 seconds.
Also placing high for the Tanagers were Eric Dehner who was fourth out of 51 runners in the 1600 meter run in a time of 4:33.3 minutes, and the 4×200 relay team of Christie, Kellen Cusick, Oliver Hope, and Michael Buckanaga which placed fifth among 18 competing teams.
Other Tanager significant results were: Morgan Brooks � 11th out of 53 runners in the 400 meter; Brittney Gilkyson � 11th out of 53 in the 800 meter; the 1600 sprint medley team of Brooke Johnson, Lindsey Dunkeson, Brittany Weydert, and Kayla Mollet � ninth among 22 competing schools; and Nicole Pedersen, � sixth place in the triple jump.
Tyler Brown was 13th out of 35 runners in the 3200 M for boys. No team points were kept but some really big class A teams came from long distances to enjoy the competition in the Dome.
