February honors go to Isles and Hoadley Maria Isles and Jon Hoadley were honored as the February Students of the Month at Vermillion High School. First National Bank in Vermillion provides a $100 scholarship for each VHS senior selected for this award. Sixteen students throughout the year are awarded the SOM for their excellence in the classroom as well as their efforts in extra-curricular activities.
Isles leads an active life including employment at the Dairy Queen restaurant. Her school activities include chorus, soccer, German Club and National Honor Society. She is a Renaissance member and was a sophomore server.
Her parents are Irma and Derric Isles. Her post-high school plans are to attend St. Cloud State University.
Hoadley intends to study international/social relations at Michigan State University with ambitions to be either a United States ambassador or an international lobbyist. His parents are Michael and Diane Hoadley.
Hoadley's extensive list of activities includes the Vermillionaire, National Honor Society, Natural Helpers, Student Council, Renaissance, band, orchestra and choir. He was in All-State Orchestra and All-State Jazz Band as well as earning the distinction as the American Legion District Oratory champion.
