Impressive shooting leads to Tanager win by Jim Prosser The Vermillion Tanagers pulled away in the second half to defeat the Parkston Trojans 58-44 in varsity boys� basketball Feb. 19 at Parkston. The Tanagers shot an impressive 63 percent from the field in the contest.
�This was a good win for us,� said Vermillion varsity Coach Jason Huska. �We played well offensively and played good pressure defense. We need to carry the momentum into the Lennox game.�
The Tanagers fell behind 12-10 after the first quarter, led 19-17 at halftime, and then led 37-27 after the third quarter.
The Vermillion varsity improved its record to 10-7, while Parkston dropped to 14-5.
The Vermillion varsity sank 0 of 3 three-point attempts and sank 8 of 12 free throw attempts. The Tanagers connected on 24 of 38 from the field, while Parkston was 17 of 49 from the field. Parkston sank 4 of 20 three-pointers and made 6 of 7 from the line.
