Nelsen named USD employee of month Sue Nelsen, a secretary in The University of South Dakota Office of Admissions, has been named Career Service Employee of the Month for February. Nelsen was honored during a ceremony on Feb. 1 in Slagle Hall. Vice President of Academic Affairs Don Dahlin presented Nelsen with a plaque and a check.
Nelsen was nominated by USD Director of Admissions Paula Tacke.
"I continue to receive compliments on a regular basis about her pleasant manner, sincerity, job knowledge, and 'never dropping the ball' attitude from the public she serves," Tacke said. "Sue continues to go above and
beyond her current job expectations in serving student needs."
Tacke recently received a letter from a transfer student that commended Nelsen's work, noting, "I cannot say enough about her knowledge, professionalism and caring attitude during my admissions process over the last three months. I have rarely encountered a more able and enjoyable person to work with during the entrance process. Her efforts are tremendously admired and appreciated."
Nelsen started working for the state of South Dakota in 1987 and joined the Office of Admissions staff at USD in 1998.
"I love all the contact I have with students and their families," Nelsen said, noting that her personal philosophy for serving others is "to be happy and respectful."
Nelsen resides in Centerville, with her husband and their five children.
