Obituaries Theodore Martinson

Theodore "Ted" Martinson, 91, of Vermillion, died on Wednesday, March 20, 2002, at the Vermillion Care Center. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday, March 25 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Interment was in BluffView Cemetery. Visitation was 4 to 7 p.m. March 24 at Iverson-Siecke Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

He was born Jan. 7, 1911, in Regent, ND. He grew up in the Vermillion area and attended rural school. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He married Ruby Peterson on Aug. 13, 1948 in Dakota City, NE. Mr. Martinson loved fishing and playing cards. He was an avid gardener and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the VFW.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ruby; his daughter, Sheryl Kavanaugh of Denver, CO; a stepson, Terry Tripp of Ohio; stepchildren, Douglas and Sally Tripp of Portland, OR; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his sister, Anna Marie Johnson of Vermillion; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters.

Helen Whittemore Vann

Helen Whittemore Vann, 92, of Pampano Beach, FL, died March 25, 2002. She was preceded in death by hr husband, William H. Vann, in 1981. She is survived by one daughter, Dee (Walter) Mitchell of Dunedin, FL; one son, William H. (Janet) Vann of Albion, MI; one sister, Betty Osborn; seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

She graduated from The University of South Dakota and the University of Michigan. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta.
