Prosser leads JVto win over Huskies by Jim Prosser The Vermillion Tanagers beat the Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies 38-32 in junior varsity boys� basketball Feb. 12 at Elk Point as the winners led after each quarter.
�Collin Prosser had an outstanding game with 12 points and nine rebounds,� said Vermillion JV coach Rex Huska. �He was the only double figure scorer for Vermillion.�
The Vermillion JV held onto the win from the free throw line, making 11 of 15 charity tosses to 2 of 4 for Elk Point-Jefferson. The Tanagers committed only 5 turnovers in the victory.
The Huskies tried to keep things close from three-point range, hitting 5 of 10 from long distance.
The Tanagers took the lead 9-5 after the first quarter, and margins of 6-5 and 8-6 in the second and third quarters boosted the lead to 23-16 going into the final period.
The Vermillion JV improved its season mark to 10-4, while Elk Point-Jefferson fell to 5-6.
The Tanagers hit 13 of 35 field goal attempts, while Elk Point-Jefferson was 12 of 26 from the field.
