VHS varsity defeated by Madison Bulldogs by Jim Prosser The Vermillion Tanagers were defeated by the Madison Bulldogs 44-36 in varsity boys� basketball Feb. 15 at home.
�We didn�t play with the intensity we needed to win,� said Vermillion varsity coach Jason Huska. �Madison is a good team. We had trouble offensively and our shots were not falling. We can�t focus on this � we have two more tough games coming up.�
The Tanagers trailed 11-9 after the first quarter, the score was 15-15 after the second period, and the Tanagers trailed 32-23 after the third period.
The Vermillion varsity saw its record fall to 9-7, while Madison upped its mark to 12-5.
The Vermillion varsity connected on 4 of 19 three-point tries and sank 6 of 9 free throw tries. The Tanagers sank 13 of 42 field goals, while Madison was 15 of 38 from the field. Madison made 2 of 8 three-point attempts and connected on 12 of 20 free throw attempts.
The Vermillion varsity was outrebounded 35-22.
