Artist commemorates Indian law symposium The work of artist Gary Trudell was recently commissioned by The University of South Dakota School of Law for the Seventh Biennial Indian Law Symposium to be held April 11-12.
The theme of the symposium is "Indian Law, Culture & the Environment: A New Dialogue for a New Century."
Trudell applies his imagination using a free-hand style to create art with no formal training. He prefers solitude to enhance his concentration. Trudell's work is symbolic of the old recognizing the new. While the work is untitled at present, an appropriate naming for Trudell's art is under consideration.
Trudell, a longtime resident of Sioux City, IA, is a board member of the Sioux City American Indian Center.
