Boys earn fourth at DV track meet By Jim Prosser The Tanager boys� track team placed fourth with 91 points, in the seven-team meet held at McCook Lake for the Dakota Valley High School invitational last Saturday, April 13.
There were seven schools represented at the meet � host, Dakota Valley, Elk Point-Jefferson, Sioux City West, Beresford, Homer, NE, Alcester/ Hudson and VHS.
Field events results for Vermillion were as follows:
Shot put � second Ray O�Connor, discus � third O�Connor; Kellen Cusick and Adam Mount were fourth and fifth in shotput; high jump � third, Jerred Hesla; long jump � first Quincy Christie (20' 2 1/4"); and triple jump � fourth, Tim Harden.
B.J. Reynolds placed fifth in the 100M dash. The 200M dash found Christie, Cusick, and Bart Miller finishing second, fifth and sixth in that order. Cusick was fourth in the 400M.
Ben Parsons placed third in the 800M run and Justin Manning placed sixth in the 1600M. Eric Dehner won the 3200M run, timed in 100:00.01
In the relays, the Tanagers placed fourth in the 4X400M (Cusick, Christie, Dehner and Miller); and in the 4X800M relay, the team of Chad Teigen, Miller, Parsons and Dehner won in 8:49.41. The medley relay team came in fifth (Ryan Mockler, Dan Pearson, Caleb Berry, and Craig Powell).
