Composer to visit USD Composer Glenn McClure will be visiting the USD Music Department April 18 and 19. The university choir and percussion ensemble will be presenting his work, St. Francis in the Americas: A Caribbean Mass in Slagle Auditorium, Friday, April 19 at 8 p.m.
The concert will be repeated in Sioux Falls at First Lutheran Church, 12th and Minnesota, at 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 21.
The Mass combines acapella voices with steel drums and various percussion instruments. Concert goers will hear New Orleans Dixieland/blues, salsa and African rhythms incorporated into the work.
While on campus, McClure will be speaking to USD music students about composition and life as a professional musician.
Dr. Sue Ann Stutheit is the director of the university choir. Dr. Sarah Smith Waters conducts the percussion ensemble. There is no charge for the concerts.
