Spring load restrictions removed Effective Friday, April 19, the Department of Transportation removed spring load restrictions on all state highways.
Local highway officials should be contacted for removal dates on local highways.
One of the Department of Transportation's goals is to eliminate spring load limit postings on state highways. The reduction in the number of state highways posted in the last five years illustrates progress toward this goal. In 1997, the department posted 956 miles, or 12.2 percent, of the state highways with load restrictions. That number was reduced to 600 miles, or 7.7 percent, for 2002.
The department thanks highway users for their patience while complying with the spring load limits.
