Tanager tennis team defeats S.F. Washington by Jim Prosser The Tanager boys' tennis team faced another worthy opponent in the high school ranks as they gained a 6 – 3 win over the Sioux Falls Washington junior varsity Thursday, April 18. Following are the scoring results:
Singles: Jason Holoch (V) defeated Cade Smith 10-1; Geng Wang (V) defeated Adam Cutler 10-8; Andy Mortenson (W) defeated Nathan Scheidel (V) 10-1; Keith Sexe (W) defeated Steve Foltz (V) 10-5; Jack Higgins (V) defeated Ryan Sivertson 10-5; and Aaron Zaske (W) defeated Anthony Rath (V) 11-9.
Doubles: Holoch/Wang defeated Smith/Cutler 10-6; Scheidel/Foltz defeated Nate Mortenson/Andy Mortenson 11-9; and Higgins/Rath defeated Justin Wehde/Nathan Woodward 10-4.
Tanager coach Nick Hovden, said, "The Warriors varsity is highly regarded in the state, so we expected their JV would be tougher, too, since they beat us 9-0 in our dual last year. Our win is a happy result as a reward for the hard work we've put in."
