Thompson, Rusch earn March honors Ashley Thompson and Mark Rusch were recently selected as the Vermillion High School's March Students of the Month. These seniors were honored for their academic and extra-curricular achievements. First National Bank in Vermillion will award each of them a $100 scholarship.
Thompson's activities include the Vermillionaire, cheerleader, student council, show choir, National Forensics League, and Drama Club. Her many honors were as a Royalty candidate, a Regents Scholar, a lead role in Grease, the president of the Spanish Club, and commissioner of schools and public lands at Girls' State.
According to her faculty endorsement, "Ashley stands out as someone who sets and achieves high academic goals and is actively involved in other extra-curricular activities. She is certainly worthy of this honor." Her parents are Craig and Marsha Thompson, and she plans to attend the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph, MN.
Rusch's resum� includes band, German Club, National Honor Society, Quiz Bowl, Science Club, and Dixie Land Band. Activities outside of VHS have been the Boy Scouts, the Vermillion Summer Arts Festival, the Vermillion Public Library as well as a youth writer for the Sioux Falls Argus Leader.
Rusch plans to attend Creighten University in Omaha, NE,. to further his education. Arthur and Lana Rusch are his parents.
