Vermillion tennis defeats S.C. West by Jim Prosser The matches involving VHS at Sioux City West Monday, April 15 gave the Tanager tennis team an impressive 9-0 victory over the Wolverines. It was the team�s first win of the season.
Singles: Jason Holoch (V) defeated Scott Southwell (W) 10-3; Geng Wang (V) defeated Mike Deck 10-3; Nathan Scheidel (V) defeated Shane Corbett 10-4; Steve Foltz (V) defeated John Pecaut 10-6; Jack Higgins (V) defeated Chris Kobes 10-1; and Dan Day (V) defeated Thomas Lindner 10-7.
Doubles: Holoch/Wang (V) defeated Southwell/Deck 10-3; Scheidel/Foltz (V) defeated Corbett/Lindner 10-1; and Higgins/Day (V) defeated Boris Aleynik/Steel Vue 10-0.
Junior varsity: Harsh Patel (V) defeated Kobes 8-1; Keshav Arogyaswamy (V) defeated Aleynik 10-2; and Anthony Rath (V) defeated Vue 8-6.
Coach Nick Hovden said, �The team played great tennis, as both the varsity and JV went undefeated! The younger players are coming along nicely and with a win under our belt, we will have more confidence as a team.�
