VHS boys place second at EP-J Huskies Invitational by Jim Prosser The Tanager boys� track team placed second with 119 points behind Sioux Falls Christian�s 146 first place score at the Huskies Invitational last Thursday, April 4. There were six schools represented at the meet.
Coach Dan Bergland complimented the efforts of Eric Dehner who qualified for state in the1600M (4:32.92) and 3200M (9:59.94) runs.
Field events results for Vermillion were as follows: Shot put � first, Ray O�Connor (47' 2.5") and discus � third place, O�Connor; high jump � fifth, Jerred Hesla; long jump � first, Quincy Christie (20' 5") and third, Kellen Cusick.
Christie placed second in the 100M (11.32) and B.J. Campbell finished sixth. Chris Teigen was fourth in the 110M hurdles and sixth in the 300M while Mike Buckanaga placed second in the 300M hurdles.
Ben Parsons placed second in the 800M run and Tyler Brown was fifth. Justin Manning finished fourth in the 3200M run.
In the relays, the Tanagers� team of Campbell, Buckanaga, Chris Teigen, and B.J. Reynolds placed third in the 4x100M. Vermillion�s Christie, Oliver Hope, Cusick, and Buckanaga placed fourth in the 4x200M.
Hope, Cusick, Parsons and Bart Miller placed third in the 4x400M. In the 4x800M relay, the team of Chad Teigen, A.J. Manning, Justin Manning, and Brown placed second.
The medley relay team of Campbell, Reynolds, Caleb Berry and Dan Pearson placed fourth.
