VMS boys’ track teams place second at home

VMS boys' track teams place second at home by Jim Prosser The seventh- and eighth-grade triangular track meet involving Vermillion, Yankton and BonHomme Monday, April 15 in Vermillion placed the Redbirds second in both grades. Final standings were:

Seventh grade: Yankton � 102, Vermillion � 29, BonHomme � 10.

Eighth grade: Yankton � 98, Vermillion � 29, BonHomme � 6.

The placers for the seventh grade boys were: In the long jump � Ryan Powell fourth; high jump � Jeff Donnelly first, 4'10". The 110M hurdles was won by Powell (19.4), with

Donnelly placing second. In

the dashes: 400M � Ryan Gilbertson was second. Long distance runs: 800M � A.J. Manning third, Gilbertson � fourth; 1600M run � Manning won in 5:45.2 minutes.

The 4x400M relay team of Paul Hammond, Manning, Matt Mildrum and Gilbertson was second.

VMS eighth grade placers were: Field events: long jump � Randy Kabambi first, 17'1.25"). In the dashes: 100M � Tom Pearson second; 200M � Kabambi second, Ben Rogge fourth; 400M � Kabambi second; 800M run � Darren Martin first, 2:28.8; 1600M run � Danny Shen third.

The 4x200M relay team of Hubert, Rogge, Pearson, and Kabambi placed second.
