Coyotes host FB game May 4 in Dome The University of South Dakota Coyotes will hold their annual spring football game at 1p.m., Saturday, May 4 in the DakotaDome.
South Dakota opened spring ball on April 8 with 78 student-athletes reporting to practice. The Coyotes have held scrimmages on each Saturday during April, including one held in Rapid City. Among those reporting to spring practice were 30 letter winners, including eight starters on defense and six starters on offense.
The spring game will pit the red team vs. the white team.
South Dakota head football coach John Austin, 14-18
in three seasons at South Dakota, is pleased about his spring practice session to this point. "We had an outstanding off-season conditioning program, leading into the beginning of spring practice. This spring, our players have worked very hard and have made significant progress," said Austin. "We invite the public to come to our spring game which will be a final opportunity to see the Coyote football team before next fall."
The Coyotes will open the 2002 season against Missouri Western on September 7 at 7 p.m. in the DakotaDome.
