Junior varsity boys shine at Yankton QB relay event by Jim Prosser There were eight schools represented at the 2002 Yankton Quarterback Relays last Thursday, April 25: Brandon Valley, Dakota Valley, Hanson County, Lennox, Mitchell, O�Gorman, Vermillion, and Yankton.
No team points were recorded but there were a couple of bright spots in the sophomore (JV) division.
Tyler Brown won the 800M run in a time of 2:10.4, and Chad Teigen came in second. In the 1600M and 3200M runs Craig Powell won both races, 4:51 (1600), 10:51 (3200) and Justin Manning placed third in the 1600M.
Quincy Christie placed first in both the 100M dash (11.3), and 200M dash (23.1); he also won the long jump (20'10"); B.J. Reynolds placed fifth in the 100M. Caleb Berry was fourth in the 400M dash. Kellen Cusick placed fourth in the discus and third in the shot put. The 4x200M relay team was fourth with Reynolds, Chad Teigen, Ryan Mockler, and Mitch Bierle. And, winning the 4×400 relay was the team of Cusick, Chad Teigen, Reynolds, and Berry � timed in 3:46.7.
In a really competitive meet, the varsity scored in three events with Jered Hesla placing fourth in the high jump and Bart Miller placing fifth in the 800M run. Finally � the 4x200M relay team came in second, timed in 1:34.6 (Mike Buckanaga, Cusick, Oliver Hope, and Christie).
