Memorial Day services scheduled in Vermillion

Memorial Day services scheduled in Vermillion by David Lias Memorial Day services, which traditionally have been held at Vermillion's National Guard Armory, will be celebrated this year beneath the fluttering flags of the Clay County Veterans Memorial on the grounds of the Clay County Courthouse.

In case of rain, the program will be held inside the courthouse.

The program, hosted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Clay Post 3061, will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, May 27.

It will include the placing of wreaths by representatives of the American Legion, the American Legion Auxiliary, the VFW and VFW Auxiliary.

The VFW firing squad will present the salute to honor the dead, followed by the playing of Taps.

The Veterans Memorial Flags will be put up in BluffView Cemetery Saturday, May 25, at 1:15 p.m., weather permitting, and will be taken down Tuesday, May 28 at 4 p.m.

Volunteers are welcome.
