Obituaries Isabell Manning
Isabell (Freese) Manning, 92, Vermillion, died Tuesday, May 14, 2002, at Sioux Valley Vermillion Hospital.
Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Saturday, May 18 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Vermillion, with the Rev. Leonard Fox officiating. Burial was in the St. Mary's Garryowen Cemetery, rural Burbank.
Visitation was from 3 to 5 p.m. May 17 at the Iverson-Siecke Funeral Home,Vermillion. A 7 p.m. prayer service was held Friday at the church.
She was born July 11, 1909, at Reliance, to Peter and Clara (Limoges) Freese. She attended USD and Augustana College. She married Eugene Manning Aug. 12, 1930, at Garryowen. He died March 20, 1992.
The couple lived in Union County on a farm and then they moved to Sioux Falls in 1955 and back to the farm in 1962. They moved to Vermillion in 1980. She taught at rural Clay County school and at Christ the King School, Sioux Falls. She also taught special education in Sioux City. She was a teacher for 40 years.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, rural Burbank, and then a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Vermillion. She was also a member of Catholic Daughters.
She is survived by two sons, Dean, Willis, TX, and John, St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands; four daughters, Jeanette Manning-Blythe, Avila Beach, CA, Jerry Livermore and Candy Manning-Arch, both of Sioux Falls, and Mary Ellen Whitehead, San Clemente, CA; 33 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, Frances "Frosty" Freese and Charles "Bud" Freese; one daughter, one grandson, Kelly Skadsen and one great-granddaughter, Valerie Skadsen.
