South Dakota drops two to North Dakota State The University of South Dakota dropped a pair of games April 26 to North Dakota State 10-0 and 12-2. The Coyotes managed just two hits, one from John Heisel and Nate Dunlap, in the first game as John Brunswold dropped his record to 7-4 on the season as he gave up five runs in two innings of work, walking three and striking out one. Don Mendel came in for the third through seventh innings and gave up five runs on seven hits, striking out two and walking none.
In the second game of the double header, the Coyotes managed five hits, two of
them from Dustin Moore, and one each from Todd Dekkers,
Horace Lawrence, and Nate
Dunlap leading to two runs. Unfortunately, it was not enough as the Bison got 12 hits off of Albert Jones and one off Luke Branch to score 12 runs. Jones allowed just three earned runs as the defense committed seven errors. Jones also struck out four batters and walked one.
The Coyotes dropped to 21-15 on the season and 6-8 in the North Central Conference.
