Spring Fling for the Arts at USD on May 4 The College of Fine Arts at The University of South Dakota will hold its 4th Annual Spring Fling for the Arts on Saturday, May 4, at 11:00 a.m. The event will be held at the Warren M. Lee Center for the Fine Arts on the USD campus in Vermillion.
The Spring Fling is a celebration of student art, music, and theatre activities. There will be a student art sale at 11 a.m. as well as concerts throughout the day.
At 1 p.m. the USD theatre department will present a program of scenes from acting and directing classes to be held in the Arena Theatre. In addition, student work from theatre design classes will be on display.
At 4 p.m. there will be an outdoor picnic.The celebration will culminate with a 7:30 p.m. concert in the Knutson Theatre.
The concert will feature the USD Symphonic Band under the direction of Dr. Larry Mitchell and the USD Chamber Singers under the direction of Dr. Matthew Harden. All events are free and open to the public.

Youth in Sioux City learned how to weave together a successful management plan to sell their home-made t-shirts.
The owner of a food franchise in Sioux Falls discovered ways to increase his sales orders.
These are just a few of the accomplishments of S.I.F.E. (Students in Free Enterprise), an organization of USD students interested in not only learning about the business world, but also teaching others how to be successful entrepreneurs.
The group teaches the basics of free enterprise to anyone who is willing to learn.
They've discovered there's a great hunger for business knowledge in the Vermillion region.
"We have worked on over 30 projects this year in Vermillion, as well as in Sioux Falls, Yankton and Sioux City," said Jenn Haas, a S.I.F.E. member.
The outreach work in itself is rewarding enough, but students involved in S.I.F.E. are the enjoying the added bonus of being recognized for their efforts.
The USD S.I.F.E. team traveled to Chicago, IL, to give a presentation at a regional competition. The team won top honors and the right to participate in the S.I.F.E. National Competition in Kansas City, MO, on May 12.
