Wednesday Evening Ladies League (WELL)

The weather finally cooperated and allowed us to begin our season on May 15. It was a beautiful evening for golf and fun. Our host for the evening was the Environmental Hazards. They awarded several pin prizes.

Jenny Chandler received a pin prize for the longest putt on #3; Pat Durkin won one for the longest putt on #9; Nora Remily won one for being closest to the pin on her drive on #5. No one got in the rope (although there were a few close enough to think about "stretching" it) so that prize will carry over to the next week. The Quackson drawing winner was Kathy Merrigan-Manning.

Out on the course a number of ladies had a "hot" night. Nora Remily scored the low gross with a 37 while Marlys Boschee had low net with a 32 (gross of 50 and a handicap of 18). A number of birdies were also carded. Jenny Chandler had two birdies one on #1 and one on #6. Nora Remily had a birdie on #5 (pays to be close to the pin on your drive) and Diane Duin had a birdie on #6.

The topper for the evening was Mona Bye who had an eagle on #6, chipping in her third shot from just off the green. Join us next week for more golf and fun.

Senior Men's Fun Golf League

On Tuesday, May 21 there were 39 seniors on hand to test the course. We found that the wind can be a major factor in posting good scores. The course and the wind were the winners this day.

We were happy to greet Ray Mount on his return from Texas, Jerry Sommervold for his first time this season, ditto Tim O'Connor, and Craig Coenen as a newcomer to our group.

On a tough day a 38 was a good score. Our winning team of Ron Brown, Ivan Pierce, Tom Walker, and Jim Prosser had a 38. Good going men.

Other prize winners were, at 38, Jerry Sommervold, Jim Reed and Bill Rasmussen; at 39, Pete Berglund, Rod Tieman, and Stan Munger with the team of Elmer Mount, Quentin Oleson, and Mel Marcotte; two teams at 40, Ross Johnson, Howard Connors, and Cleland Cook along with Mo Marcotte, Cal Petersen, and Jack Stewart.

Three teams were aided when they scored birdies, Brown on #3, Sommervold on #6, and Johnson on #4.

Our shot of the day award goes to Tom Walker for his 5-yard approach shot to within 2 feet of the cup on #3.

We hope next Tuesday will bring better golf weather. We do promise you a fun day with very even teams, our excellent golf course, and good food and conversation at the club house.
