Men's League

On May 9, the first activity for the league teams will be a "team scramble" with a "winner take all" prize for the best team score.

Regular league competition begins on May 16 with a 3 p.m. shotgun start using all tee boxes on the front 9. The summer season will run every Thursday, through Aug. 15, and then there will be a final elimination tournament, involving all teams, until a final champion is determined, some time in September. (No league on July 4 and July 11.)

A new scoring system will be used during the 2002 season. Match is worth 2 points, Medal is worth 2 points, and each hole won is worth 1 point, and 1 point is added to the best medal total for both rounds each week for a total of 23 points.

Senior Men's League

Thirty-five seniors faced threatening weather on the front nine of The Bluffs. The weather cleared and the sun made for an acceptable golf day. A team led by Elmer Mount, a recent retiree from Arizona, and supported by Bob Lund and Rod Tiemens, had the low score of 35, one under par. They had the only birdie scored this day.

Our other prize winners were: at 38 Ron Brown, Stan Munger, Quenten Larson and Jim Prosser; Loren Carlson, Dick Munkvold, and Maurice Erickson; and Ross Johnson, Ray Lynn and Quentin Oleson; at 39 Don Baer, Jack Stewart and Bill Rasmussen, and the team of Sid Davis, Howard Connors and Mel Marcotte.

Play will resume next Tuesday with coffee and donuts at 8:30 a.m. and golf on the beautiful Bluffs course at 9:30 a.m. Visiting will resume during the tasty meal served by Rusty and his crew.

After a three-week trial period the seniors voted to continue having the 80+ age men use the red tees for this season.
