VHS relay team qualifies for state

VHS relay team qualifies for state by Jim Prosser With the Tanager varsity already having several individuals and relay teams qualified for state, the Big 8 Conference tourney held Thursday, May 9 gave them the opportunity to get the 4x100M relay team into the state meet.

Field events results for Vermillion were as follows: Shot put � Ray O�Connor, second; triple jump � Tim Harden, fourth; high jump � Tyler Brown, third; 300M hurdles � Mike Buckanaga, second.

B.J. Reynolds placed fourth in the 100M dash; while Quincy Christie won the 200M dash (0:23). Bart Miller placed first in the 400M dash (0:52.7), with Kellen Cusick and Caleb Berry coming in third and fourth in that order.

Distance runs: Justin Manning placed third in the 1600M and Mitch Bierle was fourth in the 3200M.

In the relays, besides the 4x100M state qualifying second place finish with runners B.J. Campbell, B.J. Reynolds, Oliver Hope and Christie; the 4x200M relay team won in 1:34.6 minutes (Buckanaga, Cusick, Hope, and Christie); while the 4x00M team placed third (Cusick, Dehner, Ben Parsons, and Buckanaga); and in the medley relay the Tanagers came in third also (Campbell, Reynolds, Bart Miller, and Brown).
