VMS boys' track teams led by Kabambi with four first places by Jim Prosser The Vermillion Middle School �Big 3� Triangular involving Lennox, Madison, and Vermillion was conducted last Monday, May 13 and found the seventh-grade Redbirds placing in nine events giving them 33 points for a second place finish overall.
The placers for the seventh-grade boys were: in field events; Long jump � Ryan Gil-bertson, second; Ryan Scheidel third; high jump � Bobby Dykstra, third.
In the dashes: 100M � Ryan Powell, fourth; 200M � Scheidel third; Powell, fourth; 400M � Gilbertson, second, Matt Mildrum, fourth; 110M hurdles � Jeff Donnelly, first (18.8), Powell, third.
Long distance runs: 800M � Steven Timms, second; 1600M � A.J. Manning, first (5:30.65). The 4x200M relay team placed second (Paul Hammond, Scheidel, Donnelly, and Dykstra).
The eighth-grade Rebirds had placers in 10 events, scoring 53 points to give them first place. Results for the eighth- grade boys were, field events:
Shot put � Daniel Mollet, third; long jump � Randi Kabambi, first (16'11.5''), Kyle Hubert, third; high jump � Kabambi, first (5'2''); discus � Ben Rogge, first (109'4''), Joe Miller, fourth.
In the dashes: 100M � Tom Pearson, second, Mike Creps, fourth; 200M � Kabambi, first (25.9), Creps, third, Pearson, fourth; 400M � Kabambi, first (59.8). 110M high hurdles � Hubert, first (18.2) .
Long distance races: 800M run � Danny Shen, second, Darren Martin, third; 1600M run � Shen, first (5:40.25); Danny Redlin, fourth.
