VMS boys' track teams place second in EP/J dual by Jim Prosser The Vermillion Middle School hosted EP/J in a dual held Thursday, May 7, placing the Redbirds second in both grades.
Seventh-grade final standings were Vermillion-41, EP/J-65.
The placers for the seventh-grade boys in field events are: Long jump � Ryan Powell, second; high jump � Jeff Donnelly, first, 4'10'', Bobby Dykstra, second. In the 100M hurdles, Donnelly placed first (18.5) and Powell placed second in a dead heat finish.
In the dashes: 100M � Ryan Scheidel was second and Powell placed third; 200M � Schiedel, third; 400M � Ryan Gilbertson, second, Matt Mildrum, third; 800M run � A.J. Manning, second, Gilbertson, third; 1600M run � A.J. Manning, first (5:38.6), Steven Tims, second.
The 4X100 relay placed second with members Powell, Donnelly, Paul Hammond, and Schiedel.
The eighth-grade standings were: EP/J-48, Vermillion-47.
VMS eighth-grade placers in field events are: Shot put � Dan Mollet, second; discus � Ben Rogge, first, 117'8"; long jump � Randy Kabambi, first, 17'3.5", Kyle Hubert, fourth; 100M hurdles � Hubert, second.
In the dashes: 100M � Rogge, first, 13.03, Tom Pearson third, Mike Creps fourth; 200M � Kabambi, first, 26.2, Pearson second; 400M � Kabambi first, 58.9.
In the 800M run � Darren Martin, first, 2:28, Danny Shen second, Danny Redlin, third; 1600M run � Shen, first, 5:58.
The 4X100M relay placed second: Pearson, Rogge, Shen, and Creps.
