VMS girls' track teams complete season at 'Big 3' meet by Jim Prosser On Monday, May 13 the middle school version of the Big 8 Conference track meet was held at Madison and involved seventh- and eighth-grade girls representing the Lennox Orioles, Madison Bulldogs, and Redbirds from Vermillion. Team points were 44 for second place for each VMS seventh- and eighth-grades. The individual results for the seventh-graders are:
In field events; Shot put � Michelle Olson, first (29'1'') Brittni Stewart, fourth; discus � Greta Sjolie, second; long jump � Ariel Hofman second, Annie Roche, fourth.
In the dashes: 100M � Roche, second; 200M � Hofman, first (29.0), Josephine Kabambi, second, Annika Sjolie, third. 100M hurdles � Kinsey Weydert, third.
Long distance runs: 800M � Katarina Gombocz, second; 1600M � Gombocz, first (6:04.3).
The 4×200 relay placed second, with members Roche, Sjolie, Weydert, and Hofman. First place timed at :57.2 went to the 4×100 relay (Roche, Kabambi, Weydert, and Hofman).
The eighth-grade girls results follow.

In the dashes: 100M � Brittany Babb, first (13.8), Megan Epping, second, Amy Mollet, third; 200M � Babb, first (29.06), Mollet, second; 400M � Walker, second.
In the distance races: 1600M run � Maggie Thorn, first (6:20.34).
The Redbirds� 4×100 relay team placed second with runners Mollet, Jadee Hofer, Babb, and Epping. The 4x200M team of Mollet, Babb, Carrie Christensen, and Epping was second also.
Finally, new VMS girls� track records were claimed by the seventh-grade 4x100M relay with a 56 second flat time. Members of that team were Roche, Kabambi, Weydert, and Hofman, and the 4x200M relay team timed in 2:01.34 with members Roche, Sjolie, Weydert, and Hofman.
