Flum new USD registrar

Flum new USD registrar Cathy Flum will take over the position of registrar for The University of South Dakota beginning July 1.

Flum is a native of Rockville, MD and Oak Park, IL. She first came to USD as a student in 1971 and earned three degrees from the university. They include a B.S. in English, an M.A. in English and a master of selected studies in computer science, linguistics and philosophy.

Flum has worked for the university for nearly 20 years. Prior to becoming USD's acting registrar in December 2001, she served as the USD director of computing services for over six years.

"I enjoy being a manager," Flum said. "My experience and the needs of the office mesh well."

Flum is the daughter of Rosemarie C. Flum of Potomac, MD. She resides in Vermillion with her life partner, Susan Wolfe. Her stepson, Jeff, daughter-in-law Cyndi and granddaughter Abbie live in California.
