He was busy Saturday showing Robert Kneeland, 13, of Vermillion, some of the finer points of operating a turning lathe at Vermillion's Missouri River Summer Arts and Music Festival, held on the campus of USD. It was a moment that may have hooked the young man on the hobby as well. He had some bad luck at first, but in a short time Kneeland eventually was successful in crafting a wooden pen holder with the lathe.
