Wednesday Ladies Golf, Bridge and Dominoes

The morning golfers walked May 29 as the 2.3 inches of rain made the course very soggy. Fifteen golfers golfed for putting prizes. Mary Mock and Mary Lea Hennies came in first with 14 putts and other winners with 18 putts were Edith Nelson, Lynn Hatle, Rula Hatch and Darlene Engbrecht.

The lunch prepared by the Cherry Street Grille was barbequed pork sandwiches, fruit salad, pickles and chips. The dessert was furnished by Jan Uhl and June Wagner.

Meryl Reed brought flowers and Glennis Stewart took them home. The $5 membership drawing was won by June Wagner. Each week Gerry Van Bruggen has different plays for the bridge prizes. This week the prizes went to the players who guessed their anticipated score correctly. Mary Lea Hennies guessed 3500 and that was her final score. Other close winners were Dorothy Reed, Jo Ellen Tipton and Meryl Reed. Traveling prize went to Sarah Brown and blind bogey to June Wagner. Ellie Davis had the high score for the day.

The Dominoes winners Kristi Nissen, Thornton, CO, won the top prize with an average total score of 273. Jayne Merrigan and Elaine Hirsch tied for the "double ought" award. Babe Hurowitz won the "high drama" award for best performance all afternoon.

Wednesday Evening Ladies League

Both the weather and the golfers were hot on May 29. Jenny Chandler had the low gross score with a 1 under par 35! The low net score went to Joanne Ustad with a 26 (48 score minus 22 handicap). Scorching. On top of these great scores 11 birdies were carded: Michelle Brunick on #6; Nikki Peters on #8; Edith Nelson on #6; Jennifer Steele on #8; Robin Hansen on #6; Kathy Merrigan-Manning on #6; Sheila Prosser on #3; Mona Bye on #4; and Jenny Chandler had three #3, #5 and #9.

Our host for the evening was Chicks with Sticks. They awarded pin prizes for shortest drive on #9 to Kimmy Dee, closest to the pin on #8 to Nikki Peters and closest second shot on #6 to Michelle Brunick (p.s., her second shot was on the green). No one got inside the rope (again) so the prize money will escalate to $20 next week. Inside the clubhouse Nancy Scheidel won the Quackson drawing.
