Business workshop offered in Vermillion A two-day workshop being held in Vermillion next month will offer helpful information to new or smaller businesses.
The workshop is sponsored jointly by the South Dakota Department of Revenue, the South Dakota Department of Labor, Internal Revenue Service, Social Security Administration, and OSHA. The sessions are scheduled for July 10-11 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the School of Law at The University of South Dakota.
The agenda includes a discussion by Department of Revenue personnel on sales, use, and excise taxes, and licensing requirements for new businesses. Representatives from the Department of Labor will provide information on employment taxes.
Among the issues covered by the IRS are federal tax issues, allowable business expenses, social security self employment tax, making quarterly estimated tax payments and record keeping. Attendees will learn how to complete W-2, W-2c, W-3, and W-3c forms and receive information on the benefits of Social Security Administration. OSHA will demonstrate compliance assistance tools as well as a variety of other related issues.
