City plans July 4 celebration Plenty of fun and fireworks are planned for the July 4 celebration in Vermillion Thursday, beginning at 5 p.m. in Barstow Park. There will be a special presentation by the onor guard of the 323 Chemical Company, Detachment 1, U.S. Army Reserves. Games include an inflatable castle, bingo, mini-golf, face painting, temporary tattoos, radar soccer, balloons and flow in the dark necklaces. There will be plenty to eat; concessions
include tacos by Recurdos, snow cones by True Value, taverns and hot dogs by St. Agnes Youth, root beer floats by Hy-Vee and a beer garden by the Eagles.
Activities will begin at 5 p.m. with a kiddie parade and bingo. At 7 p.m., Gate Cut, a country western band, will perform.
The night's fireworks are sponsored by Vermillion businesses and the Vermillion Fire Department.
