Clay County Fair celebrates 100 years of 4-H The Clay County Fair and Achievement Days are in full swing at the fairgrounds in Vermillion.
County 4-H'ers entered their livestock exhibits Wednesday, and the swine, poultry and cat shows were held Thursday. Other events Thursday included the 4-H Livestock Judging School, the open class and 4-H bake sale, the fashion revue, the open class horse show, and music by Julie, Chris and Amy.
Events scheduled for Friday morning include the 4-H rabbit, goat and sheep shows. There will be a kiddie tractor pull at 5 p.m., followed by music by the Nate Solberg band at 6 p.m. Friday's events will close with demolition derby at 7:30 p.m.
The 4-H beef show begins at 8:30 a.m. Saturday. The S.D. Old Time Fiddlers will perform at 2 p.m., and Dakota Entertainment is scheduled from 3 to 9 p.m. A community barbecue will be held at 5:30 p.m., and Mike Mortenson will perform at 6 p.m.
The Youth Talent Contest will be held at 7:30 p.m., and birthday cake and ice cream will be served at 9 p.m. to celebrate the 100th birthday of 4-H.
