DENR drinking water compliance report available This year's South Dakota Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Annual Compliance Report of South Dakota's Public Drinking Water System Violations is now available, according to state officials.
The report is available by contacting the DENR Drinking Water Program at 605-773-3754 or on the Internet at www.state.sd.us/ denr/ DES/ Drinking/an nual01.htm.
"Overall, the report shows that when people drink water from public water systems in South Dakota, they can be confident the water is safe and meets state and federal drinking water standards," said DENR Secretary Steve Pirner.
The annual report is a requirement of 1996 amendments to the federal Safe Drinking Water Act.
It is submitted to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) before July 1 each year.
