S.D. Public Radio features local jazz South Dakota Public Radio is hosting a special on-air event, the "July Jam" Friday, July 12, from 4 to 10 p.m. The broadcast will feature special editions of All Things Considered and Jazz Nightly with Jim Clark.
Two local groups � Rochford Jazz and Swing Shift � will be featured on Jazz Nightly. Swing Shift is a jazz quartet from the Black Hills area. The group presents an assortment of jazz, including be bop, Latin and mainstream jazz. Rochford Jazz, a group named after Rochford, South Dakota, is a regular Jazz Nightly favorite. Consisting of three musicians who love jazz, the group has been together since 1998.
During the two programs, listeners will have an opportunity to receive special gifts, including CDs from Rochford Jazz or Swing Shift.
Jazz Nightly is broadcast weeknights at 7:30 p.m. on SDPR. The program highlights new and classic jazz, swing and bossa nova. Throughout the week, listeners can hear featured artists, classics and new releases and make special requests on Wednesday evenings by calling 1-800-456-0766.
