Teeners play three games against Sioux Falls, Yankton by Jim Prosser After squaring their season record to 3-3, the Vermillion Teeners baseball team was busy, if not too successful, June 11-12 as they were involved in three games, losing two, at Sioux Falls and one at Yankton.
Their first game had the Sioux Falls Red Teeners as the opponents and, after leading 5-4 midway through the eighth inning, suffered a devistating loss as the Reds scored two runs in the bottom half and took the game away from Vermillion.
Line scores: SF Red 6 runs, 9 hits, 0 errors; Vermillion 5 runs, 8 hits, 1 error.
Vermillions starting pitcher, Brad Schaack effectively stopped the Sioux Falls bats, registering 10 strikeouts while walking five and being charged with four runs (one unearned). But the home team took the lead against losing pitcher Jason Donald in the final inning.
The Vermillion offense consisted of J.J. Lamie with 3-5 batting, scoring one run. John Gregg went 2-4, scoring one; Brandon Hansen, Ryan Mockler and Brad Schaack were the other scorers with one each.
The second game was played against SF Blue and the results created some real blues as they thoroughly dominated Vermillion 15-2. Steve Foltz was the losing pitcher, and the two scores were made by Tim Bleil and Ryan Mockler.
At Lakeview Park in Yankton, the Teeners suffered the same fate as they lost 15-2 again. Jason Donald suffered the loss and Brad Schaack joined Donald as the two individual scorers for Vermillion.
The season record after the three losses was 3-6.
