Teeners split DH with Beresford team � again by Jim Prosser In a game replete with scoring bunches, the Vermillion Teener baseball team lost a close 9-7 decision in the first game played in a double header against Beresford on Monday, July 8. The first game was a close contest but the home-standing Beresford Teeners prevailed at the end.
Vermillion opened the scoring with three runs in the first inning, and Beresford responded with a five-run burst in the bottom half. The second inning gave the home team another four-run streak and a 9-3 lead.
The teams were scoreless until the fifth when Vermillion made a furious challenge with four runs in a row and the bases loaded. But the final out of the game was a K by Beresford�s Preston Crissey to stem the tide for the 9-7 Vermillion loss.

J.J. LaMie was the leading scorer with two runs. Ryan Mockler went 1-2, one run, one rbi; Brandon Hansen � 1-3, one run, one rbi; Bobby Punt scored once and had an rbi; Jason Donald scored a run, and Paul Wait was credited with two rbis.
Game two was a turnaround with Vermillion winning 10-4 in a shortened three-inning game. Bobby Punt started and went three innings, giving up four runs on five hits while walking two and registering two Ks for the complete game victory.

Jason Donald led the offensive stats with 2-2 batting, a walk, two runs and two RBIs. He was backed up by Matt Stange who scored one run along with an rbi. Paul Wait went 1-3, two rbis; Ryan Mockler was 1-3, two runs; Brandon Hansen was 1-1 scored one, and one rbi. J.J. LaMie scored twice, and John Gregg scored one run and one rbi.
