AAA survey reveals increase in gas prices AAA's monthly fuel gauge survey, taken Aug. 13, shows the state-wide average price of gasoline in South Dakota has increased about six cents in the last month to $1.474 per gallon. Last month's survey showed the state-wide average at $1.417.
The average price of gasoline in Sioux Falls is at $1.415, up five cents from last month, while the Rapid City average has increased just 1.5 cents per gallon during the same time period and is at $1.498.
Nationwide, the average price of gasoline is at $1.405, up 1.5 over last month. Around the Midwest, average gas prices are as follows: North Dakota: $1.50; Minnesota: $1.46; Iowa: $1.38; Nebraska: $1.44; Wyoming $1.43; Kansas: $1.40.
The highest state-wide average cost of regular unleaded gasoline is $1.707 in Hawaii, while the state with the lowest average is Georgia at $1.258.
