Cub Scouts help re-stock Food Pantry Cub Scouts of Pack 165 recently worked to help re-stock the shelves of the Vermillion Food Pantry after the pack was notified of an urgent need for items to help local families. On Saturday morning, scouts stood outside the entry of Hy-Vee grocery and handed out lists of essential items missing from the food pantry shelves.
Shoppers used these lists to shop specifically for the food pantry and then dropped their donations in designated grocery baskets as they left the store.
Hy-Vee generously seeded the collection with a cart full of groceries, and within a few hours, four full baskets were brimming with goods to be delivered.
Cub Scouts Luke Skilbred, Forest Skilbred, Greg Styles, Ty Osborne and Christian Wasley, along with parents John Skilbred, Julie Hammontree, Shelly Joines, Emery Wasley and Cubmaster Kent Osborne, participated in this event.
Cub Scout Pack 165 thanks all who donated generously to this campaign. Additional food items may be taken directly to the Vermillion Food Pantry at Trinity Lutheran Church at the corner of East Clark and Plum Street, or please call Julie Hammontree at 624-3039 if you have donations which need to be picked up.
