MidAmerican Energy launches home improvement safety Web site With summer in full swing, many people once again are tending their gardens, installing ceiling fans, building decks and embarking on other home improvement projects.
To help them keep safety top of mind when they're digging and wiring, MidAmerican Energy launched a new site to serve as a comprehensive interactive resource on household natural gas and electrical safety.
"Helping us all stay safe is one of our most important promises to our customers," said Todd Raba, MidAmerican senior vice president of delivery services. "We want to provide our customers with a convenient yet informative resource where they can get answers to their electrical and natural gas safety questions."
The Web site features a host of safety information, including tips on trimming and planting trees, electrical generator safety, what to do about fallen power lines, understanding the hazards of carbon monoxide and simple first aid instructions. Also on the site are interactive quizzes to test a customer's knowledge of what to do in an electrical or natural gas emergency.
In addition, MidAmerican's personal safety Web site has entire sections on the best ways to perform a variety of household chores, such as installing a ceiling fan or changing a fuse. To access the site, go to www.midamericanenergy.com, click on "Safety Link," then "Electric and Gas Safety."
