Obituaries Elda Carlson

Elda L. (Olson) Carlson, 68, Vermillion, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, in rural Vermillion.

Funeral services were held Aug. 8 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Vermillion, with the Rev. Judith Johnson officiating. Burial was in Bluff View Cemetery, Vermillion. Iverson-Siecke Funeral Home, Vermillion, was in charge of arrangements.

She was born May 19, 1934, at rural Vermillion, to Stephord and Belva (Ketchum) Olson. She was a bookkeeper for Tom Vogel, C.P.A., and belonged to Just To Be Club, the VFW Auxiliary and Fairview Tea and Burbank Thimble clubs. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Vermillion.

She married Roy Carlson Nov. 18, 1973. He died Sept. 26, 1989

She is survived by her fianc�, Ed Ruhland, Burbank; a sister-in-law, Doris Olson, Burbank; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and four brothers, Cecil W., Louis B., Lowell G., and Warren.

Glenn Olson

Glenn E. Olson, 79, Vermillion, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, in rural Vermillion.

Funeral services were held Aug. 8 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Vermillion, with the Rev. Judith Johnson officiating. Burial was in Bluff View Cemetery, Vermillion. Iverson-Siecke Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He was born July 27, 1923 at rural Vermillion to Stephord and Belva (Ketchum) Olson. He was a life-long Burbank farmer and belonged to the Vermillion VFW. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Vermillion. He was in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater.

He is survived by a sister-in-law, Doris Olson, Burbank; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Cecil W., Louis B., Lowell C. and Warren.

Lester Emerson

Lester E. Emerson, 75, Elk Point, died Wednesday, July 31, 2002 at the Sioux Valley Vermillion Hospital, Vermillion.

Funeral services were held Aug. 5 at the United Parish Church, Elk Point, with the Rev. Dan Lozer officiating. Burial was in BluffView Cemetery, Vermillion.

Iverson-Siecke Funeral Home, Vermillion, was in charge of arrangements.

He was born Oct. 15, 1926, in rural Burbank to Arthur and Emma (Jensen) Emerson. He graduated from Vermillion High School in 1944. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army.

On June 10, 1951, he married Hazel Trudeau. She died Oct. 10, 2001. He worked as a linotype operator for 20 years at the Elk Point Leader-Courier. He then purchased the newspaper and operated it for 20 years. He also operated the Emerson Printing Co.

He was a member of the United Parish Church, Commercial Club, VFW and American Legion, all of Elk Point.

He is survived by a daughter, Annette (David) Keeler, Moorhead, MN; a sister, Lorraine Miller, Gary; and two grandchildren, Evan of San Diego, CA, and Carissa of Moorhead, MN..

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and a brother, Russell.
